Capitol Reef & The Badlands of Utah

The Badlands of Utah are host to some of the most raw, rugged and unique landscapes in this country! Next door is Capitol Reef National Park. This smaller, less traveled park has immense beauty highlighted with colors of autumn. This location is far from most traveled areas of Utah, but has beautiful mesas, rock formations and slot canyons to explore. This provides us an opportunity for dramatic sunrises and sunsets, as well as abstract photography, and a chance to explore what will someday become a booming area.

EQUIPMENT
DOWNOAD HERE

While we recommend certain equipment for our workshop, it’s not necessary for you to participate. Check out what our trip leader’s suggest & plan ahead for rentals, borrowing, etc.

LOCATION

We stay in the small town of Hanksville, Utah, which has a couple of restaurants, a market, gas station, and is very close to Capitol Reef National Park. We have arranged for lodging at the Muddy Creek Mining Company, and will be staying in brand new cabins with kitchenettes..

TRANSPORTATION

A high-clearance vehicle is required to navigate certain areas we plan to photograph. Cathedral Valley in Capitol Reef is a remote, rugged region which will require high clearance such as large SUV, or 4x4 vehicle if you have one. JKPW will help to pair participants with transportation if you request.
